Need Help with an Animal?
If you’ve found a lost or stray animal, lost your own pet, or encountered an animal that may need help, please visit our Help A Pet section first.
We’ve created step-by-step resources to help you understand what to do, who to contact, and which local resources may be available in Miami-Dade County.
Please note: Pawsitively Humane is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization and does not operate a shelter, veterinary clinic or emergency response service. We are not able to accept or pick up animals on demand.
If an animal is injured, in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, please contact the appropriate local animal services agency, law enforcement agency or emergency veterinary hospital. In Miami, there is Miami Dade Animal Services that operates business hours (Dial 311). After hours and weekends, please visit a 24 hour veterinary clinic. Visit our Help a Pet page for more suggestions including connecting with local rescue groups via Facebook–quicker than phone or email.
Please know Humane Society’s are private entities and do not accept stray animals, only a limited number of pets from owners who have passed away or not able to care for their pet.
