There are many ways to make a difference for animals in our community. Whether you can volunteer your time, lend your professional skills, help spread the word, advocate for change, or contribute resources, your involvement can help us create a more humane Miami-Dade.
Pawsitively Humane is an all-volunteer nonprofit, and we believe everyone has something valuable to contribute. Together, we can educate, advocate and take action to help prevent pet homelessness and improve the lives of animals throughout our community.
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there may be a way for you to help. Opportunities can include assisting with community outreach and education, helping at events, supporting animal-related projects, fundraising, fostering, administrative tasks, and other needs as they arise.
You don’t have to be an animal expert to make a difference. If you care about animals and want to help create a more humane community, we’d love to hear from you.
Foster an Animal
A temporary foster home can give an animal the time, safety and care they need while a permanent home or other placement is found. Foster homes can also make it possible to help an animal when there simply isn’t another safe place for them to go.
Whether you can foster a cat, kitten, dog, or other animal in need, even temporarily, you may be providing the bridge that changes — or saves — a life.
We especially need people willing to open their homes when an urgent situation arises.

Donate Your Skills / Services
You don’t have to foster an animal to make a meaningful difference. Professional skills and donated services can help us accomplish things that would otherwise be beyond the reach of a small, all-volunteer nonprofit.
We welcome individuals and businesses who may be able to contribute their expertise or services — including photography and video, graphic design, printing, marketing, social media, fundraising, veterinary or animal-care services, legal or professional expertise, event support, technology, and more.

Help With Outreach & Education
Education is at the heart of our mission. Many animals end up homeless because people simply don’t know what resources are available, what the law requires, or what they can do when an animal needs help.
Volunteers can help us share reliable information, distribute educational materials, speak with children, teenagers at schools, participate in community events, connect people with resources, and help spread humane messages throughout Miami-Dade.
We are especially interested in reaching our diverse community in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, so volunteers who are bilingual or multilingual can be an enormous help.

Help Us Spread the Word
Awareness can save lives. The more people we reach, the more effectively we can educate our community, connect animals with help, recruit fosters and volunteers, and inspire positive change.
We welcome support from television and radio stations, newspapers, magazines, digital media, journalists, influencers, content creators, advertising companies, and other media professionals who can help amplify important animal-welfare messages.
Donated advertising, public service announcements, media coverage, interviews, photography, video production and other promotional support can give a small nonprofit a voice far beyond what our budget could ever provide.

Advocate for Animals
Your voice can make a difference. Decisions made by local government and community leaders can have a lasting impact on animals and the people who care for them.
When an important animal-welfare issue arises, Pawsitively Humane helps make advocacy easy. We alert our supporters when contacting local leaders can make a difference and provide the information you need to take action — including sample messages and the appropriate email addresses.
You don’t have to be an expert or know what to say. We’ll help give you the tools to make your voice heard.
