When an animal needs help, knowing what to do next can make all the difference. Whether you’ve found a lost pet, encountered a stray cat, lost your own companion, or are concerned about an animal in need, we’re here to help you find the right next step.

How Pawsitively Humane Can Help

Pawsitively Humane is not a full-service animal shelter or public intake facility. We are a small, volunteer-run nonprofit working to address pet homelessness through education, prevention, rescue and community action.

Our volunteers encounter homeless, abandoned, sick and injured animals too—and when we have the ability and resources, we step in ourselves. We also care for and manage community cats. But with so many animals in need, we simply cannot take in every animal someone finds.

What we can do is help you figure out what to do next. We provide practical guidance, local Miami-Dade resources and information to help you make the best decisions for an animal you’ve found. Our goal is to empower more people to become part of the solution—because helping homeless animals takes an entire community.

Choose the situation below that best describes what you’re dealing with. Our guides provide practical information and local Miami-Dade resources to help you take action.
